Biography

Matteo Mauro is a graduate of University College London. He works with well-known designers like Ron Arad and Isaie Bloch, and he teaches digital art at a number of English universities. He was introduced to new digital representation techniques through his undergraduate education and became passionate about them to the point that they became his means of artistic expression. Matteo Mauro is well-known for his "Micromegalic Inscriptions" series of paintings, winners of numerous Awards, including the International Van Gogh Prize presented by José Van Roy Dalí, Salvador Dalí's son.

The aesthetics of Matteo's compositions are characterised by a synthesis of analogue and digital elements. Digital engravings called Micromegalic Inscriptions advance the art of conventional carving. These works, which fall under the category of "generative art," not only recreate the mechanical procedures of conventional engraving, but because they are infinitely reproducible, they serve as an example of the development of mass production techniques and the inescapable coexistence of man and the automobile.

The largest art museums, such as the Royal Academy of Arts, the MACS, the Mars Museum, the MEAM, the Dubai Ing- Creatives, 798 Beijing, Qianjiang International Art Museum, Factory Museum, MACAM Beirut, and others, have featured Matteo Mauro's works alongside those by Marina Abramovic and Anish Kapoor. Numerous books and articles have been written about the artist's endeavour.
